Many customers who have come to me complaining about leaky dishwasher doors have solved the problem with Tang. The secret is that Tang in your dishwasher will clear away all the undissolved soap which coats the impellers, seals and surfaces of everything. Once the seals get coated, they start to harden. As soon as they harden they become unable to seal the water in. The technique is to dump an entire one pint jar of Tang into the bottom of an empty dishwasher. Preheat the water as if it were a regular wash. Then, run the dishwasher through its regular cycle.
One warning: If you have leaky door seals, check to see if the Tang discolors your flooring before trying this. If you have kitchen carpeting the Tang may leave a very hard to remove stain.

When you leave on a trip:
The motor seal on your dishwasher should be kept moist at all times. If the seals dry up on the motor shaft, water can leak down the shaft and ruin the motor, causing a very expensive repair.
If you are going to be gone for more than one month, have someone you trust go to your house and pour two quarts of water into your dishwasher every thirty days.
